SOURCING MANAGER / BUYER FAR EAST – GROWTH FUNCTION

We are enthusiastically working towards the further strengthening of our Sourcing Far East department. The activities of this important department entail the sourcing and buying of building and installation materials, DIY products and private labels in the Far East on behalf of our customers in predominantly Suriname, the (former) Dutch Antilles, UK and French Caribbean as well as other French Overseas Territories (DOMTOM) and North Africa. Our clients are DIY retailers and importers. Due to growth we are looking to strengthen our Sourcing Far East team with a:

WHAT WE OFFER

• we offer a challenging and interesting (senior) buying position on full time basis in a professional, international trading organization active in over 30 countries.
• within the Sourcing Far East team, you are co-responsible for the sourcing and buying of building materials, installation materials, hardware, outdoor living and other DIY products across all categories. Procurement predominantly takes place in China.
• our customers are smaller yet in their markets leading retailers and distributors in building materials and DIY products. The sourcing process takes place in close collaboration with the aforementioned international customers and is largely determined by the following elements: wide product range, relatively small MOQs, demand-driven, non-stock keeping, and consolidation in the Far East.
• you closely cooperate with vendors, customers, sales and our logistics department and you are – together with your colleagues – the commercial spider in the web.
• you travel to the Far East several times a year for a few weeks and you maintain warm relationships with our supply partners and logistics service providers in the Far East.
• You will be optimally supported in your commercial sourcing activities by a strong back office staff, a well-developed supply chain, a professional logistics department and well-automated processes.
• you will be working at the export market leader in a no-nonsense, open, collaborative and international atmosphere with a strong focus on service, digitalization and fun.
• our organization has healthy growth ambitions and for the right candidate there are good opportunities to further grow in future responsibilities.
• working from home is possible, but in the framework of learning and on the job training we expect that frequent office attendance in Almere is necessary.

WHAT WE EXPECT FROM OUR NEW COLLEAGUE

• you have relevant experience with purchasing in the Far East, if possible with DIY products, technical assortments (installation technology and lighting) and private labels. Sales experience is a plus.
• you are independent, commercially versed and result-driven, hands-on and think in solutions. Searching for commercial opportunities and professionally linking customer demand to the right purchasing solution is in your DNA.
• you are proficient in both Dutch and English. Without these language skills you do not qualify for this position. Knowledge of Mandarin is a plus.
• Based on your purchasing market, assortment and retail knowledge, you are a professional partner for suppliers and for Category Management of buyers.
• Despite your independence, you enjoy working together in a team of driven colleagues.
• you have an education at Bachelor level or higher (Dutch HBO).
• you are the pleasant colleague who – like us – thrives on service, co-operation and good communication.
